Irene (Sakowski) Chase of Reading died Nov 4, 2011 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA after a long illness. She was 80 years of age.
Born in Three Rivers, MA on Aug 4, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Bertha (Mozdzen) and Peter Sakowski. She was a graduate of Endicott College in Beverly, class of 1950, and worked as a medical secretary and lab technician for Boston University and later as a legal secretary. A resident of Reading since 1970, she worked in real estate for many years, opening her own business (Nelson-Chase Real Estate in Stoneham) until her retirement. Irene was an avid gardener and was a long time member of the Reading College Club.
Irene devoted her life to her family and was their true lifeline. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold F. Chase, and devoted mother of Linda Chase of Woburn, Harold Chase of Pepperell, and Peter Chase of Reading. She is survived by her sister, Janice Brids of Longmeadow, MA, brother Stanley Waluk of Deerfield, MA and brother James Waluk of FL. She was predeceased by her brother Peter Sakowski of Wilbraham, MA.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home on 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) in Reading from 2-5 PM Saturday, Nov. 12 with a short service to follow at 5 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sophia Gordon Cancer Center at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. Please note the name of deceased with donation.
