Margaret Ellen “Marguerite” (Carroll) Connors a resident of Reading for 37 years formerly of Malden died peacefully at home surrounded by her children on February 12, 2013. She was 98 years of age. Margaret was born in Malden, Massachusetts on February 6, 1915 the cherished daughter of the late John D. and Ellen A. (O’Neill) Carroll. Margaret graduated from Girls Catholic School in Malden then went on to graduate from Malden Hospital School of Nursing in 1936. She worked as the Head Nurse in the operating room of Malden Hospital for several years. Her family was first and foremost in her life. Margaret was the Beloved wife of the late James B. Connors. Devoted mother of John M. Connors and his companion Kathleen Zalewa of Salem, Elizabeth E. McCarthy and her husband John of Newburyport, Margaret Connors of Reading and the late Kathleen M. Dumas and mother in-law of Jay Dumas of Reading. Cherished sister of the late Elizabeth M. Carroll. She was the loving grandmother of 7 and great grandmother of 6. Her funeral will be held from the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.) in Reading on Saturday, February 16 at 8:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joseph’s Church 173 Albion St. Wakefield at 10 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral Home visiting hours will be held on Friday 4-8 pm. Burial in Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
