Paula Jane (Glendening) York of Reading, MA passed away peacefully on Friday February 22, 2013; she was surrounded by her loving husband Robert, close family members and her faithful Labrador Retriever. Paula was born February 24, 1963 and raised in Bristol, CT by her father Leonard Glendening and late mother Elizabeth (McFarland). Paula was survived by her sisters Beth Glendening and brother-in-law William Kostenko of Poughkeepsie, NY and Mary Glendening of Burlington, CT and her brothers Mark Glendening and sister-in-law Kathleen of Kennett Square, PA and Carl Glendening of Wolcott, CT. Paula was devoted to her nephews Patrick and wife Gina Glendening, Casey Glendening, Owen Glendening and Adam Glendening and nieces Molly Glendening and Caroline Glendening. Paula deeply loved and appreciated her entire family and many cherished friendships. Paula excelled as a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser and enjoyed the close working relationships she developed over her career; especially, in recent years, at Cushman & Wakefield in Boston. Paula was a member of New England Women in Real Estate (NEWIRE) and an Associate Member of the Appraisal Institute. Paula was a great friend to all animals and especially to her Labradors Angus, Glenda and Scout. Paula was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed hiking the mountains of New England, gardening, birding, alpine skiing and held a very deep fondness for her many summers and falls spent with family and friends in the Rangeley Lakes Region of Maine. She was a great fan of the New England Patriots, the New York Yankees, fiction novels and movies. Above all Paula had a kind soul, a gentle and courageous spirit, impeccable sense of style and was generous to everyone who was in her life; considered a best friend of many. A visitation will be held Tuesday February 26th from 4 to 8 PM at the Douglass, Edgerley & Bessom Funeral Home at 25 Sanborn St., Reading, MA 01867. A Celebration of Paula’s Life will be held at The Hillview Country Club at 149 North Street, North Reading, MA 01864 Wednesday February 27th at noon.
