Janet M. Seldon

Janet M. (Horne) Seldon, of Peabody formerly of Reading died February 25, 2013 at the Beverley Hospital in Beverly, Massachusetts. She was 90 years of age. Janet was born in Malden, Massachusetts on November 21, 1922. She was the daughter of the late Herbert and Alice (Allen) Horne. Janet grew up in Malden and was a graduate of the katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston. Janet lived in Peabody the past ten years but Reading, where she lived for 50 years prior to moving to Peabody, was always her home. Janet was a member of the Old South United Methodist Church in Reading. She was a member of the Reading Garden Club, Community Singers, the Literary Guild and she volunteered at the Winchester Hospital. She spent her summers in Rockport for over 60 years. Janet will be remembered as a woman who lived life to the fullest. Janet was the beloved wife of the late Alvin W. Seldon. Devoted mother of Jane S. Merrill and her husband Richard of Reading; Kathie L. Sweeney and her husband Michael of Hamilton; William P. Seldon and his wife Nancy of Westford and the late Pamela A. Hanifan. She was the cherished sister of the late Parker A. Horne and the loving grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 5. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 4, 2013 in the Sanctuary of the Old South United Methodist Church 6 Salem St. Reading at 11 am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There are no visiting hours and burial is private.
